The life cycle of a product

From raw material to waste: every product goes through a life cycle. You learn the order of preference, from preventing and repairing to recycling, and how to sort waste properly in Belgium.

First stage of secondary schoolAges 11 to 14Draft: Not yet checked by a technology teacher.

Why

What happens to your plastic drinks bottle after you put it in the PMD bag?

Every two weeks the blue PMD bags stand by the road. A lorry takes them away, and they are out of sight. But the story of your bottle does not end there.

A product has a whole life: from raw materials, through the factory and the shop, to you, and then further on. If you look at that whole life, you see that at every moment you can make choices that save raw materials and energy.
